The 1953 Kingman, Arizona UFO incident was an alleged flying saucer crash and recovery near Kingman, Arizona on May 21, 1953. The incident was described as among the most verified UFO crash events in the United States by Preston Dennett[1] and is notable for the detailed accounts concerning its recovery and the activities of its alleged occupants, J-Rods who came from the future. The recovery of the craft and its occupants, allegedly involving a team of 40 scientists, including Arthur Stancil and Leonard Stringfield, allegedly led to classified government research programs such as Project Aquarius and advanced propulsion technology studies. Dan Burisch's revelations in the 2000s about his involvement and former Assistant Secretary of Defense Christopher Mellon's publication in April 2024 of internal government messages about the recovery brought brought renewed attention to it.[2][3][4]

The craft

According to eyewitness accounts and researchers, the crashed object was a metallic, oval-shaped craft measuring approximately 30 feet in diameter and 3.5 feet in height, with porthole-like openings.[1] The craft was described by engineer Arthur Stancil as "more like a tear-drop-shaped cigar" made of unknown materials not produced on Earth.[1] Metallurgist Leonard Stringfield also concluded that the object was not of earthly construction.[1] Later sources connect the craft to advanced propulsion systems powered by decaying Element 116 and antimatter, as discussed by historian Michael Schratt.[5]

Occupants

The craft is said to have been crewed by EBEs, specifically multiple individuals referred to as J-Rod. Testimonies suggest that three J-Rods were aboard the craft during the Kingman incident. Of these, two survived the crash: one a P-45 J-Rod, and the other a P-52 J-Rod, named Chi’el’ah.[6][7] A third crew member, possibly designated EBE-53AZ3, died on impact.[5][8]

P-45 and P-52 J-Rods

The two surviving J-Rods were known by several designations. The P45K J-Rod was taken to Los Alamos National Laboratory where he assisted engineer Bill Uhouse with designing flight simulator equipment.[5][8] The P-52 J-Rod, also known as Chi’el’ah, was recovered from the crash site and taken to S-4 (the Papoose Mountain facility) near Area 51 where he reportedly worked with Dr. Dan Burisch.[6][7]

Activities prior to the crash

According to accounts by Dan Burisch, the P-52 J-Rod (Chi’el’ah) had been part of a group of P45s conducting abduction sampling during the early 1970s, where he allegedly encountered a young Burisch. After traveling back to 1953 and crashing, Chi’el’ah later recognized Burisch from their earlier encounter when they met again in the context of Project Aquarius during the 1990s.[6] This same J-Rod later traveled back in time on a separate mission to 1953, which resulted in the Kingman crash.[6][7]

Accounts of time travel by the J-Rods comes from various interviews with Burisch, who detailed the complexities of communicating with them.[7][9]

The crash

On May 21, 1953, the craft reportedly crashed approximately eight miles northeast of Kingman Airport near Kingman, Arizona. Witnesses and researchers describe the craft as having struck the ground at high velocity, approximately 1,200 miles per hour, yet remaining largely intact upon impact.[1][5] Some accounts mention that the craft was partially embedded into the desert sand, and that there were portholes and a single large hatch found open.[10][1]

Recovery

Following the crash, a government recovery operation was dispatched to the site. A team of about 40 scientists, including engineer Arthur Stancil and metallurgist Leonard Stringfield, were involved in the investigation.[1][10] The craft was quickly recovered and transported—reports vary between being taken to Area 51 or Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, and later being housed at facilities like S-4 and Los Alamos National Laboratory.[1][7][5]

The recovery of the J-Rods led to a series of classified research programs. The surviving P-45 J-Rod collaborated on flight simulator technology at Los Alamos with engineer Bill Uhouse, while the P-52 J-Rod, Chi’el’ah, was involved in biomedical research and interaction with Dan Burisch at S-4.[7][8]

Dan Burisch recounted that his physical interactions with the P-52 J-Rod involved formally rigid communication protocols in and covert telepathic communication in a "Clean Sphere" environment for safe contact.[5][4] He was instructed not to communicate directly with J-Rod for periods, and mentioned various nicknames for the entity such as “Stump,” “Brightly,” and “Bright Eyes.”[7]

Subsequent activities

The involvement of the J-Rods continued beyond the crash. The surviving entities were integrated into various scientific and diplomatic projects, including the early phases of Project Aquarius, which aimed to study extraterrestrial technology and negotiate future interactions between humans and alien visitors.[9][5]

Their experiences reportedly influenced high-level discussions, including meetings involving President Eisenhower, focusing on diplomatic relations with extraterrestrial beings and managing the implications of their advanced technologies.[5]

Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Christopher Mellon referenced the Kingman UAP recovery in a tweet, implying that much classified information has been gathered about the craft and its occupants.[3]
